Shabbat

Portion Vayeshev - What Blessings did Jacob Give Joseph before Sending Him to His Brothers?

Portion Vayeshev - What Blessings did Jacob Give Joseph before Sending Him to His Brothers?

And what does that have to do with this Shabbat and blessing the New Month (new moon)?

And
What PROVES the Book of Maccabees ACCURACY?

Recenty unearthed sling bullets (like DAVID used on Goliath) were discovered south of Jerusalem

Like typical Hellenistic ammunition. One carries the winged thunderbolt of Zeus!
And coins from that time period were found too!

More on this later.

Because Jacob sends Joseph from THAT AREA - HEBRON JUDEA - to deliver things to his brothers

Who were grazing their herds further North
in SAMARIA 3300 years ago!

Abraham BOUGHT HEBRON
and Jacob BOUGHT NABLUS Shechem
 in Samaria!
Places the world wants to STEAL from Israel.

TEACH THAT TO YOUR GRANDCHILDREN!!!

After Joseph's dreams angered the brothers
It is obvious that Jacob sends foods
AND hugs and kisses to ALL the boys

And taught Joseph HOW NOT TO ANTAGONIZE.

But Joseph never had a chance to deliver!

The brothers threw him into a pit and later
Sold him down to Egypt!

NOW read a little Reb Shlomo Carlebach On

Parshat Vayeshev & Chanukah (and friendship)

"I want you to know, sweetest friends, when I see someone else putting on tefillin, I don't have to say a blessing over it...

I don't need to make a bracha over someone else fulfilling the mitzva.

And the same thing is true of all the commandments except one -       Chanuka.

If I go for a walk on the street and I haven't yet kindled the light in my own house,

and I pass by someone else's house and I see his Chanukah candles, I have to make a bracha.

Do you know why? Because ...

all year long. I don't really care if somebody else puts on tefillin.

I pretend that I do, but I don't really care.

But on Chanukah, when I see somebody else serving G-d, it blows my mind.
I say to myself, "I knew my neighbor was beautiful , but I didn't know he was shining so much.

So I make another bracha over my neighbor's light.

Then maybe later that night, the same person takes a walk and passes by my  house....

and says ..."Master of the World, I

made a bracha over my light. But my neighbor's light is so much more beautiful.

Thank you, G-d, for my friend's light.

Friends do you know what this is? Do you know what would happen if this was the way people were to each other?

It mamesh would be the redemption of the world. ...

Yosef was on such an exalted level - it was like after the coming of Mashiach.

He thought he could tell his brothers, ...

"that I can bring Mashiach, that I can be the king."

But his brothers weren't on the same level yet. ...

they still have jealousy inside them. They couldn't be happy for their brother. ...

this was the beginning of the downfall of the world.

When you cannot stand somebody else being beautiful

Do you know how sad it is if your heart isn't deep enough to say a blessing on somebody else's light?

So during the same week that we read the story of the brothers selling Yosef,

we make a great fixing - by kindling Chanukah lights.

Good Shabbos! From Rabbi Shlomo

Happy Chanukah

Chanukah lighting begins next Sunday night December 14

Back to the Maccabees - and NOW

The religious Chashmonaim Brigade

Sent their first group to train to become sergeants.

Recent finds in Gush Etzion PROVE the Maccabees

actually fought there,” Professor Raviv explained.

The finds sit where the HOLY sources place the

battle, along the old road below the village.

They give us, for the first time, an archaeological echo of the confrontation described in the texts.”

Also a bronze coin from the Asia Minor city of Side was found at Horbat Bet Zecharia south of Jerusalem, where the Maccabees fought the Greek Seleucid army.

One side shows the Greek goddess Athena wearing a Corinthian helmet.

The other features a pomegranate, which was the symbol of Side. Foreign mercenaries fighting with the Greeks were paid with such coins.

, this is the first time that a Side coin has emerged from a location explicitly connected to

F Hasmoneans - chashmonaim. - Maccabees

Their importance, Raviv says, lies in offering the first independent support for the historicity of the battle itself.

. “It is the first instence from one of Judah Maccabee’s

battlefields,”

. “This is where history, text and ground finally begin to meet.”

MAY HASHEM PROTECT ALL OUR CHASHMONAIM

AND ALL OUR SOLDIERS

AND ALL OF US

Let us Bless this INCOMING New Moon

GOOD SHABBOS

Happy Happy Chanuka
