Shabbat

Portion of Re Ay - visiting Abraham our forefather

Who visited Abraham in Canaan? The Almighty.
So what did Abraham do? He asks the Almighty to wait while he invites  3 strangersinto his tent? Why?

The Talmud Wisom teaches us that inviting guests is thus greater than Speaking  to G-d? Why?

Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach used to say - it is a GREAT thing to know what your Purpose is in this world.

Abraham and Sarah knew their purpose was to CREATE the Israelitish People - and they KNEW they had to create an atmosphere where THE WORLD WOULD COME TO PRAY TOGETHER WITH THEM!

As we say on the High Holidays "because my house of Prayer is a House of Prayer for All People.

That is why the Almighty SENT the 3 ANGELS ( who seemed to Abraham just passersby) - to test him.

And so the Almighty was HAPPY that Abraham ran to invite them in -

and in the end the Almighty spoke again with Abrahamandah - and told them they would soon have Isaac - who would bring joy to the world!

May we all find our purpose in life - and pass our tests - and bring the light of the L-rd into the world.
